Whatever else we the two editors of this text have done in our working lives, one thing is beyond doubt: We are veteran teachers of child and adolescent development.
Combined, our years of teaching in this field total well over 70 years, or about the average life span of humans in most parts of the world today. What¿s more, each of us has taught child development in every corner of the university, from large lecture halls to intimate seminar rooms. We have taught (and learned from) student audiences ranging from first-semester freshmen to advanced postdocs in over a dozen colleges and universities
in the United States and abroad
